Which Kellogg’s cereals are gluten free UK?
Unfortunately, Kellogg’s have yet to widely release their gluten free cereals in the UK but you can find some available online. The cereals that Kellogg’s have created a gluten free version of are Cornflakes, Coco Pops, Sultana Bran and two flavours of Special K. Additionally, there is one more gluten free Kellogg’s cereal which is available online called Puffed Corn Cereal (similar to Honey Monster wheat puffs).
See the list below:
1. Kellog’s gluten free Cornflakes
2. Kellogg’s gluten free Coco Pops
3. Kellogg’s gluten free Sultana Bran
4. Kellogg’s gluten free Special K (original)

Are Kellogg’s Crispix gluten free?
Kellogg’s Crispix appear to be gluten free when checking the ingredients label, but the brown rice syrup used in Crispix is actually made using Barley enzymes rather than fungal enzymes, therefore Kellogg’s Crispix cereal is not gluten free and not suitable for anyone who has Coeliac Disease.
I recently contacted Kellogg’s in the US to seek clarification on the brown rice syrup and whether they use barley enzymes or fungal enzymes and received a very quick response which stated they use a brown rice syrup made with Barley enzymes and not fungal enzymes.
View the response I got from Kellogg’s below:
Are Kellogg’s Rice Krispies gluten free?
I contacted Kellogg’s to find out whether they monitor the amounts of Barley Malt used in their cereals, to which they responded saying they do not and therefore none of their UK cereals can claim that they’re safe for anyone with Coeliac Disease. In the future, it would be great for brands like Kellogg’s to carry out testing on products that contain Barley Malt Flavouring/Extract so that they can use the gluten free label wherever possible and increase both choice and clarity for consumers.
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies may be gluten free, depending on whether they use Barley Malt Flavouring in a quantity less than 20ppm (the maximum a product can contain to be legally labelled gluten free). Unfortunately, Kellogg’s do not currently monitor the amount of Barley Malt used in their UK cereals, so it’s not possible to say whether Rice Krispies are gluten free or not. Rice Krispies are therefore not suitable for someone with Coeliac Disease due to Kellogg’s not being able to verify the quantity of Barley Malt Flavouring they use.
See the response I got from Kellogg’s below:

Do Bran Flakes have gluten in them?
If made traditionally, Bran flakes contain gluten because they’re made using wheat bran, wheat flour and whole wheat, among other ingredients. However, there are gluten free versions available, although not all of these gluten free versions are called bran flakes. See the list below for all the gluten free versions of Bran flakes and their various names:

Which Nestle cereals are gluten free?
Nestle have a few gluten free cereals that are available in supermarkets throughout the UK including Rice Pops, Coco Rice, Cornflakes and Honeyflakes which are all part of their “GoFree†range. There’s also another range by Nestle called “Harvest Home†which has 2 other gluten free cereals including Crisp Rice and Cornflakes.
The difference between the Harvest Home versions is that they’re cheaper than the GoFree products. It’s worth sourcing Harvest Home and buying in bulk to save money if you’re often purchasing gluten free versions of Cornflakes or Rice Crispies from the GoFree range.
Take a look at these Nestle gluten free cereals below:
1. Nestle gluten free Rice Pops
2. Nestle gluten free Coco Rice
3. Nestle gluten free Cornflakes
4. Nestle gluten free Honeyflakes
5. Nestle Harvest Home Crisp Rice
6. Nestle Harvest Home Cornflakes
Are Cornflakes gluten free?
Not all Nestle cornflakes are gluten free because some contain Barley Malt Extract/Flavouring, which is commonly used to enhance the flavour in breakfast cereals. However, the Nestle Cornflakes which are gluten free include Nestle GoFree Cornflakes and Nestle Harvest Home Cornflakes.
See the previous section for images of Nestle’s gluten free cereals.

Are Shreddies gluten free?
Unfortunately, Shreddies are not currently made in gluten free form by anyone in the UK and so you won’t find them in any supermarket. However, you can buy Chex cereal online in the UK which is the cereal that Shreddies are based on. Chex are available in gluten free varieties, unlike shreddies, and make a good alternative if you’re after a gluten-free version of Shreddies.
Read the next couple sections to find out about Chex.
Are Chex cereals gluten free?
Chex is available in a variety of flavours but those that are gluten free are: Honeynut Chex, Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Vanilla Chex, Chocolate Chex, Cinnamon Chex, Peanut Butter Chex, Apple Cinnamon Chex and Blueberry Chex. The only Chex that is NOT gluten free is the Wheat Chex. Vanilla Chex has recently been discontinued but may reappear in the future.
Prices vary dramatically for these cereals but Amazon appears to be the cheapest place to buy them online in the UK because postage is usually free or included if you’re a prime member.
See what the gluten free Chex cereal look like below:
1. Honeynut Chex (gluten free)
2. Rice Chex (gluten free)
3. Corn Chex (gluten free)
4. Vanilla Chex (gluten free)

8. Blueberry Chex (gluten free)

Is Weetabix gluten free?
Weetabix is made almost entirely from whole wheat, and is therefore not gluten free. The Weetabix brand do not sell any of their own products in a gluten free form in fact, including their Oatibix which contains Barley Malt Flavouring and carries a may contain warning for gluten ingredients due to manufacturing methods.
Is there a gluten free version of Weetabix?
The only gluten free version of Weetabix available in the UK is called Nutri Brex. It’s not associated with the Weetabix company and the brand only sell this one type of breakfast cereal, but it is the closest match to Weetabix available in gluten free form. See a picture below of Nutri-Brex, which you can find in most supermarkets in the free from sections.

are any normal supermarket own brand cereals suitable for coeliacs, as I have grandchildren and don’t want tk have to buy loads of different cereals is there one that suits all.
Hey there Ann, thankyou for your question there and I would love to help guide you a bit further.
One option would be to buy branded gluten free cereals that are similar in look and appeal to well-known cereals such as cheerios, cornflakes, rice crispies, to name a few, and decant them into tubs and label them. That way, when your grandchildren visit, they won’t even know they’re a gluten free version and will all feel they’re eating the same cereal.
If you’re looking to save money and find supermarket own cereals which are gluten free, unfortunately, you might find this a bit trickier as most branded and supermarket own cereals contain barley malt extract (or similar) in order to increase flavour, and of course this ingredient is not gluten free.
I have yet to find any cereals either branded or supermarket own which are “accidentally gluten free”, unfortunately. Therefore I tend to buy supermarket-own gluten free cereals to keep costs down, and decant them into cereal containers at home so that no one feels they’re getting something “different”. You could also opt for a 1kg bag of gluten free oats and make porridge with a variety of toppings, because you get a lot more cereal bowls full from making porridge than you do buying standard cereals, plus they’re filling, and you can keep it fun and individual just by changing the toppings for each of your grandchildren.
I hope this was helpful, but i’ll be sure to update here if I find anything accidentally gluten free in the cereal sections in the future!
